Back Story
Elizabeth discovered her in the streets of Tortuga, when she was looking for Jack to help her save Will. Zorna agreed to help Elizabeth, wanting nothing more than to leave the disgusting pirate town, and find adventure. The two become friends (an almost older sister-younger sister relationship), and eventually find Will and Jack. Elizabeth and Will end up together, and Zorna agrees to stay on the Black Pearl with Barbossa, rather than her father Davy Jones (fish people rarely make the best company).
Ongoing Story
Twelve years later, on her 27th birthday, Zorna is working in a pub called the Captain's Daughter in London, when Jack escapes the palace, and tries to find the pub. Zorna, having already befriended Blackbeard's daughter Angelica (the two met in a Spanish convent, when Zorna was undercover as a nun in a top-secret conspiracy case. Even though the two are best friends, Zorna is not a crew member on Blackbeard's ship), and warned her of Jack's arrival. She disguises Angelica as Jack, then spreads rumors around that Captain Jack Sparrow is recruiting a crew for his ship, thus catching the attention of the real Jack Sparrow. Both Jack and Zorna join Blackbeard's ship to find the Fountain of Youth (Zorna already knew where it was, due to her mother being the goddess of the sea, she is also in control of magic waters). Zorna and Cale become good friends on the journey of finding the mermaid Serena. Serena, when she is found, realizes that Zorna is part sea goddess, thereby being part mermaid. Zorna and Serena develop a sisterly relationship, and Serena helps Zorna and Cale with their complicated relationship. When Barbossa claims the Queen Anne's Revenge, Zorna and Cale run off to live together alone, and settle down in his hometown of Dublin. The two never become pirates for the rest of their days.
