+ grounded, assertive, knowledgeable, charismatic, sharp-witted
- pretentious, temperamental, frosty, nihilistic, self-destructive
At her private school, she reigns over a small clique of introverts - and talks to few others. Even the Spectrum members know little about her personal life: but she puts on a show of being funny and receptive. The perfect mix of wealth, looks and intelligence, you're left to wonder why her social life isn't more successful. If Avani would only let herself, she carries potential to be amazing.

DISLIKES: animals, stubbornness, pushovers, carbonated drinks, hospitals
Upper-middle class. Born to two prosecutors. Watched father receive physical and verbal abuse, occasionally bearing the brunt of it herself. Undiagnosed E.D as coping mechanism.
Attends a private grammar school a train ride from town, and was even advanced an academic year for her intelligence.
Met Becca at a JK Rowling book signing, and the two bonded -eventually dating all through Year 11. Prior to exams, dumped her over WhatsApp with zero explanation; as police investigation began and her ED became more severe. The two haven't spoken since.
- Dismayed to run into her ex again. Things go from awkward to hostile as they are continuously forced into eachother's company.
- We learn she's had a long-time crush on Jodie (though whether this overlapped with her relationship remains ambiguous). At the Halloween party, the two hook up, forming a friends-with-benefits bond.
- After learning of Jodie's rape ordeal, Avani attempts to help her... but against her better judgment, tells Eli ("If you were me, I'd be fuming, too - but if I didn't, who would?"). The school gets involved, and Jodie berates Avani for throwing her life into chaos.
- To add insult to injury, Spectrum members find out about her mother's imprisonment through the local papers. Ashamed, she stops attending altogether.
- Jodie/Avani endgame @ Becca's end-of-year bonfire party.
- Though widely renowned for her good advice, she laments on being unable to help herself.
- Her dad rents a boat in the summertime, which her working-class friends tease her over.
- She wants to be a biochemist because she wants to help the sick get better but lacks the patience to deal with them upfront.
- Avani claims to be vegan as an excuse to turn down food: though this doesn't work, because friends and family accomodate her regardless.
