  • Species

  • Gender

  • Significant Other

  • Physical Description

    Skin colour: Chestnut brown
    Plate colour: Dark brown
Facepaint colour: Orange, with a dark blue stripe
    Eye colour: Brown

Sokar has picked up numerous scars over his long career as a soldier, and half of his crest was snapped off in an explosion in his youth.

He is one of the few kassar to wear a blue stripe down the centre of his crest, which is given to kassar who perform great feats, such as inventing something valuable. Sokar's was given to him for outstanding battlefield service.

  • Personality

Sokar is an experienced soldier. He has seen countless battles and lost a great many friends. He never panics in combat, to the extent that his soldiers describe him as having nerves of steel. It has also, however, made him rather jaded.

Sokar is utterly devoted to the kassar people, especially the soldiers who serve under him, and he would do almost anything to protect them. Though he can be impulsive and a little aggressive when it comes to defending his people, he treats the men and women under his command with fatherly affection, often being more informal than military protocol would expect.

Since Sokar was the first kassar to encounter an alien species, he sees it as his own personal responsibility to protect the kassar from any consequences that come from it. He has never forgiven the ecomin race for the harm they have done the kassar, and is determined that such events will not be repeated. Whatever the cost.

  • Back Story

Sokar was born on the kassar homeworld of Rusa. Like all kassar children, he was monitored during his education to determine what line of work he would be most suited for, and was judged to be a prime candidate from the military.

He entered the pakana - the kassar police and military force - as soon as he hit adulthood, and has served with distinction ever since. After multiple feats of heroism, Sokar became valued enough by his superiors that he was chosen to become part of the military guard for the third kassar space mission to the planet Yassana.

It was on Yassana that the kassar first made contact with an alien race - namely, the ecomin, a species who also planned to colonise Yassana. Their first interaction erupted into violence and a member of the kassar science team was taken prisoner. With Sokar's superiors dead, he was in charge of the mission, and he boldly launched a counter-attack to rescue their teammate.

Sokar successfully raided the ecomin ship, defeated their leader in single combat, and rescued his teammate before retreating. Not long after, the other species of the galactic alliance quickly arrived to settle the conflict between their ecomin allies and their newfound kassar neighbours.

Since the kassar's entry into the galactic Covenant, Sokar has been revered as a hero, even granted the blue facepaint stripe given only to the kassar's greatest heroes. He has even been appointed governor of the kassar's first colony on Yassana. But secretly, Sokar is terrified that the kassar's position in the galaxy is too fragile for them to survive. And he will do anything to stop the other races from putting his beloved people in danger.

  • Likes/Dislikes

Likes: His people, his fellow soldiers, people willing to take risks for others, people who get things done, loyalty.

Dislikes: The ecomin, any threat to the kassar, seeing a good soldier go unrewarded, laziness, cowardice.

  • Strengths/Weaknesses

Strengths: Devoted to his people and fellow soldiers, fearless, calm under pressure, extremely experienced.

Weaknesses: Cynical, can be overly aggressive, tends to devalue any lives that aren't those of kassar, can go too far to do what he thinks is right.

  • Extra

The vague attempt at art is by me.

Kassar names consist of a first name and surname, and a short prefix tacked onto the surname which indicates the kassar's profession. The 'kol' prefix before Sokar's surname indicates that he is a member of the government.

  • Alignment?

He thinks he's Chaotic Good. In reality, he may be slipping into darker regions of the chart...

  • Deadly sin that best represents them?

  • Special skills / talents?

    Improvising battle plans, general combat

  • Patience level?

It depends. In conversation, Sokar is quick to lose his temper with people who anger him, but on the battlefield, he can wait hours for an opportunity to prevent itself.

  • Most appropriate TV trope(s)?

A Father To His Men, Fantastic Racism, Nerves Of Steel, Reasonable Authority Figure (mostly...),Well-Intentioned Extremist,

  • Personal problems?

He's slowly wearing down under the stress of trying to protect the kassar from the ecomin - especially since he feels like it's his sole responsibility.

  • Religious and to what extent? Any spiritual beliefs?

Sokar follows the teachings of Cha'pakanask, a kassar religion which focuses on the sacred duty of protecting others. Sokar is not overly religious, but he takes the 'protect others' part very seriously - as long as the 'others' involved are fellow kassar.

  • Most important person in their life

He has no close surviving family, but he cares deeply for his protege Manakai and his friend Betasta.

  • Passive, agressive, or defensive?

  • Anyone they really hate?

Pretty much the entire ecomin race, whether they deserve it or not.

  • Would they dare kill someone?

In a second, if it was to protect a fellow kassar.

  • Body modifications? (Piercings, implants, tattoos etc.)

Like almost all kassar, he wears permanent facepaint known as 'irisko' which signifies his position in society. The markings he wears are those of a soldier, and they are orange, a colour that kassar associate with strength. He also has a dark blue stripe on his crest, which is given only to kassar who exhibit great genius or courage.
